We've moved onto week 4 of the C25K, two of three days down. The running times are increasing, whit the walking breaks getting fewer and shorter. Read this as me wanting to collapse halfway through our last run today as my legs had had enough! But, powered through and finished.
Average minutes per mile is depressingly slow, but it will improve.
Up next on the list, new shoes and hopefully a GPS watch.

I pushed play for the second time this week and did a bit of Zumba. It was good to get through a short work out. (and amazing how quickly you can work up a sweat)
It's funny though, I've found exercise makes me angry. Mostly the build up to getting it done. It put me in a bad mood thinking about needed to get home and get it done.
Once started it was fine, up until the 1st song as about a 1/4 of the way through, it just made me mad.
Something else that will hopefully get better with time.

C25K day 2x2
We are doing week 1 of the C25K twice because the first week was awful.
Today it felt better. I was able to open my stride a bit, so hopefully that will lead to faster times later on.
Monday we ran slower than today, so that was a plus. It wasn't quite so daunting to get out there either.
I'm struggling mentally with running right now. More so that I'm upset with myself for ever stopping in the first place when I had gotten myself to higher miles. This go around I'm bound and determined to make it work and just keep running. The goal is to run between 3 and 4 miles three times a week after we get through the C25K program. Races or not, just keeping up with the running so I can work on longer distances next year.

Day 1 of C25K with the boys.
Ouch.
5 min warm up, ran 60 sec and walked 90 sec for 18.5 min with a 5 min cool down.
Mapping it out, the run/walk portion was 1.17 miles, averaging 15.46 min/mile pace.
Good god, why did I ever stop running? I hate doing stuff over that I've already done before. Hoping this will get easier and that my body will decide to respond quickly to the exercise.
Everyone needs new shoes, weekend shopping here we come!

A new dawn, a new day!
Well, 2011 is coming to a close and I've managed to gain 20 pounds. Awesome.
So back to the grind again.
The plan is to eat smaller meals, more frequently, paying attention to portion and trying to not eat a shit ton of sugar. You know, a Cutie orange instead of fudge.
Water instead of soda and tea instead of coffee.
I'm hoping to gain the ability to eventually have the treats like a soda on occasion and a piece of candy without it turning into a binge situation.
Then there's the exercise. I really don't like to exercise, but I know it's a must.
I have a good set of tools to use at home, I just have to push play.
The boys and I are also going to start running. Starting from 0 with the Couch to 5K program and working ourselves up to running a few 5k's this year as time and money permit.
The goal is to instill some lifelong fitness for them, while gaining health for all of us. 5k's are our goal for the year. Come November we may see if we are up for the Apple Hill 3.5 miler, but that would be our max. This will be fun to build our stamina for sports and find new routes to keep us from getting bored.
So there, I laid it out there. I spent all but about a year of my 20's fat and unhappy with myself. I'm hoping to turn that around in my 30's.

Working it out...
For the past 5 days I've hit the gym.
Running & Pilates, Zumba, Basketball, Zumba and Step.
It wasn't easy, not a great time, hard and painful but the time was put in.
Eating has been a little on the blah side. Needing to commit to myself. Find the change and stick with it. I didn't plan much out this week and I know that is a key for me. So that's the plan for next week.
The weekend is busy with activities, but hopefully I won't dive too far off the deep end and can work in some workouts!

A New Day...
So, back to the beginning again. In another attempt at getting healthy, it's time get back at it. In June we will be going on a nine day camping trip, lots of fun and outdoor activities. If I had to leave tomorrow, it would kick my butt. so the main goal is fitness.
Another goal for the trip is to be able to fit into the harness for a zip line tour in Big Bear, currently I'm a few inches too big.
I have also signed up for Weight Watchers online in hopes of finding a healthy way to eat. Desperately hoping to find that life change and not a diet. For weight lose I'm taking it 5% at a time.
This year I' turning 30 and it's time to take control.
My goal between May 12, 2011 & May 12, 2012 is to run 30 races for my 30th year. It will be mostly 5k races but maybe a couple 10ks and a mud run if another pops up.
Another reason for needing to get in shape revolves around soccer. That would be the assistant coaching of both the boys' teams. This alone is a mandatory boost for fitness.
So, plans include working hard on my food intake and sticking to my points.
Exercise will become my outlet, friend and obsession. Classes and multiple trips to the gym for the elliptical and rowing machines will become the norm. I'm going to figure out how to love running on a treadmill. Hitting the road and trails will also be added back into routine so that eventually 3 miles is no big thing and 12 minute miles will be my pace.
Now lets just hope my body decides to join in with all this fun

Weight: 189.6
I'm only down about 1/2 a pound this week, but damn it, there's an 8 instead of a 9 in that middle spot!
My food wasn't the best this week. Acutally it wasn't the food so much as the Dew. It is laced with crack, or meth, because I just can't quit it! Hoping to ease up a bit this week, or at least stop at 8 oz instead of 20.
Exercise was good, working out all five days, lots of Zumba, swimming and some time in the weight room.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love Zumba? Currently I am going to two instructors, getting to know their routines and picking up the new ones pretty easily. My favorite instructor stopped me last night on my way out of class and said she enjoyed having me in the class and watching my get into it. If that doesn't make you feel good, I don't know what could!
Tomorrow I will rest as my body is screaming at me for a break, but Sun it's back to the grind to try out a new Zumba instructor at the OV club.
Sunday is also the Urban Cow 1/2 marathon. I thought I could just ignore it's evening happening by deleting it from all my calendars and such, but now, emails got me.
I'm bummed. Feeling like I quit, bummed my body isn't up to par for that. I need to get another run scheduled before Thanksgiving so I know I can still do it. I guess this also means I should lace up my shoes and get back out there...
